Catfish?<\/h2>\n

When I first started dating online after my divorce I didn’t know what a “catfish” was, aside from it being a whiskered fish.  Over time I learned a whole new meaning for this seemingly innocent noun, so much so that it also became a verb. <\/span><\/p>\n

In case you aren’t aware “catfish” gained another definition entry in the Merriam-Webster dictionary in 2014; a person who sets up a false personal profile on a social networking site for fraudulent or deceptive purposes.<\/em><\/p>\n

This new meaning of “catfish” comes from a movie and a series of the same name that is created and hosted by Nev Schulman and Max Joseph.  The premise of the series is to help people find out if the person they met online is the person they proclaim to be in real life and was based off the movie that showcased the experience Nev had in finally meeting the person he had formed an online relationship with.  That person turned out to be someone else and the concept of catfishing flourished.  To learn more about his experience you can buy Nev Schulman’s book “In Real Life” here:<\/p>\n
