My first pick for the holidays:

SAMSUNG GALAXY S8

When the screen died on my Samsung Galaxy S3 phone from a nasty fall I considered myself lucky.  Two months earlier I had purchased an extra Samsung phone (not a Galaxy version) to use as a home-based mini tablet, so I didn’t think much about my loss, as I had an easy fix. 

That is until a few friends showed me what I was missing by not getting the Samsung Galaxy S8. 

It’s amazing, what this camera offers photography lovers.  I swooned over the dual front and rear facing camera system that can actually take pictures at 5 feet underwater for about 30 minutes!  To keep up with this phone’s underwater capability I’ll need scuba gear! 

Another great feature is durability. Samsung phones are super durable.  I know because my Galaxy S3 phone lasted through 3 years of falls, bangs, scrapes, rain and snow.  It even had an encounter with a puddle of tomato sauce.  In looking at the specs for the Samsung Galaxy S8, and hearing tales from friends, I feel confident that durable aluminum alloy and Corning Guerrilla Glass 5 will make it near impossible to destroy this phone.

These reasons are more than enough to help me decide that the Samsung Galaxy S8 is meant for me.

My second pick for the holidays:

When you live in a questionable area the subject of safety is always on your mind.  Will I be mugged? Will my car be stolen?  Will the house be robbed?  As a person who lives in such an area I want to be assured of my safety and also the safety of my belongings.

As of late I have been fascinated by trying to find a security system that can provide me some comfort.  Recently we had a rash of car beatings.  Yes, beatings, not break-ins.  In addition tires were being attacked.  These could be just teens trying to get a kick because they don’t understand how important and expensive it is to keep a car gassed up and running or it could be an angry neighbor.  It would be good to know who is doing these horrible things so the person, or persons, responsible can be caught and prosecuted and the neighborhood could feel safe once more.

I looked at a lot of systems but what I want is something I could hook to the outside of my house near my window, for easy removal, should I ever move.  I also want something durable and weather-proofed given I live in a place where storms are common.  I also want it to be easy to use.  After some time I found that the Trivision has all that I wanted and more, making its way onto my most-wanted list of gadgets for 2017.

So in conclusion:

While the holidays are not about gifts, it’s important to remember that we give others gifts during those times to show we care and to remind them to keep in touch and be safe.  The three items I choose above would keep my family safe, allow me to keep in touch with those that I care about in my life and let me record the events that happen around me and my home.  I consider them to be the three best electronic gadgets for gift giving this year and you should too.
